Activities
In the South Iceland both old and young can choose from several
activities for their recreation and entertainment. Tourist service in
connection with horses is more common than in most other places. Here
history is always close at hand; here the old Althing (Parliament) was
held at Thingvellir and here is the setting of Njála (the story of
Burnt Njal). The Bishops of the country sat at Skálholt. In the South
interesting museums, historically important places, galleries and
handicraft centers can be found.
For those who want to enjoy
the outdoors there is good fishing in rivers and lakes, good golf
courses and swimming pools and beautiful walks for those who really
want to enjoy being out of doors. Few places in the country can boast
of more magnificent natural phenomena; beautiful waterfalls please the
eye, hot springs spout boiling water and the volcanoes might always
erupt with fire and smoke. We live in a hard country and have learnt to
survive.
We invite our visitors to enjoy our beautiful country and its nature with us and we also offer various kinds of recreation.
